Laima Oržekauskienė was born on February 13, 1959, in Vilnius. From 1980 to 1985, she studied at the State Art Institute (now VDA KDI), specializing in textiles. Since 1987, she has been teaching at the VDA Kaunas Art Institute (professor since 2006) and led the textiles department from 1996 to 2007. She has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union since 2004 and is a member of the Kaunas Art Biennale "Textile" council. She is a laureate of the National Culture and Art Prize.
